Ukraine keeps on drawing attention as a nation with good IT potential. The majority of analytical reports made by venerable research agencies states: Ukrainian IT specialists are professionals and Ukrainian higher education is good enough to prepare 30000 technicians annually. As a testimony – results of international conquest programs, such as, for example, Code Jams, organized by Google: three times Ukrainian programmers become their finalists – 2003, 2004 and 2006. But this, as well as many of the reports, goes about Ukrainian IT industry in terms of programming.
One of the exceptional values of Great Minds Initiative in this case is that it shows IT potential of Ukraine in terms of R&D (research and development). And hopefully, it’s first steps to generate a new scientific elite of the nation.
